ASSIST-IoT Project

CIOP-PIB participates in an international project Architecture for Scalable, Self-*, human-centric, Intelligent, Secure, and Tactile next generation IoT (ASSIST-IoT). The project is conducted under Horizon2020 ICT-56-2020 Research and Innovation action (Grant Agreement no. 957258). The project has received funding for 3 years, from 2020 to 2023. During project implementation, it was decided to extend it until the end of March 2024.

General information

ASSIST-IoT project aims at design, implementation and validation of an open, decentralized reference architecture, associated enablers, services and tools, to assist human-centric applications in multiple verticals. ASSIST-IoT project will design, implement and validate, in a realistic, measurable, and replicable way, a unified innovative multi-plane (semi-)autonomous decentralized edge-cloud reference architecture, supplemented by cross-cutting digital enablers. The architecture will support continuous integration and long-term sustainability of domain-agnostic, interoperable, self-* capable, intelligent, distributed, scalable, secure and trustworthy IoT ecosystems.

ASSIST-IoT project will assess and verify its results in three pilots representing:

  • port automation,
  • smart safety of workers,
  • cohesive vehicle monitoring and diagnostics.

Each pilot includes different scenarios, in which different technological pillars and enablers will be executed and validated by the project partners. Experiences from pilots will be used to improve action outcomes, guaranteeing quality and broad range of results applicability.

CIOP-PIB’s contribution

Together with the industrial partner Mostostal Warszawa S.A. and Orange Polska S.A., CIOP-PIB is engaged in the Smart safety of workers pilot. The main responsibility of the CIOP-PIB team is to present the benefits of the ASSIST-IoT approach aimed at increasing occupational safety and health in a constantly changing working environment represented by a construction site. CIOP-PIB also leads the task on the Legal and Regulatory Requirement Analysis and Specification for the ASSIST-IoT system.

Project Consortium

The project consortium consists of 15 partners from 7 countries. The project is coordinated by UPV - Universitat Politecnica de Valencia from Spain.
