Resilience engineering – a new approach to OSH management
Małgorzata Pęciłło

Despite new methods and organizational solutions in occupational safety and health (OSH) management, accidents at work do not belong to the past. Many practitioners suggest that  OSH management systems are not effective due to their formalization and lack of flexibility. This has led to a search for new solutions in OSH, which has resulted in the concept of resilience engineering.

Safety of a delegated employee
Karolina Aromińska

According art. 174¹ of the Labour Code, an employer can delegate  employees to work in another workplace by giving them unpaid leave for that time. The problem of the home and host employers' liability when it comes to the delivery of health and safety regulations follows. This is particularly important if there is an accident at work. This article discusses those issues and who establishes the circumstances and causes of an accident at work in relation to delegated employees.

Innovative safety systems used in vehicles and their impact on traffic participants's safety
Patrycja Krzyszkowska

Drivers' work is often dangerous; there are many road accidents. This is mostly due to a rapid increase in the number of vehicles and an increase in the speed they are capable of. Tiredness, loss of concentration or inattention can easily cause a tragedy. To prevent this, car manufacturers implement increasingly innovative safety systems, which support drivers and protect them against accidents (active safety systems) or minimize their effects (passive safety systems). Thanks to advanced safety systems, the number of accidents and their victims steadily decreases, despite a rapid increase in the number of vehicles.

Occupational activity of people aged 50+ in Poland and their health
Elżbieta Łastowiecka-Moras, Joanna Bugajska

The problems of the occupational activity of older people are increasingly considered both in Poland's policy and in EU programmes. The possibilities and intentions of the elderly to stay active depend on many factors, primarily their health. The incidence of health problems, including cardiovascular, respiratory and musculoskeletal diseases, and hormonal and metabolic disorders increase at this stage of life. Statistics show that at 50, i.e., even at full occupational activity, there is a considerable increase in sickness absence related to those diseases, which puts Polish 50+ workers in a special situation.
